Heavy Rainfall Alert Stay Safe, Stay Aware ⚠️

🌧️ Heavy Rainfall Alert Stay Safe, Stay Aware⚠️

Recall!
As the heavy rain continues to fall across our communities, I urge everyone to remain cautious and vigilant. This downpour, while a natural blessing, can also bring serious environmental and safety challenges if not properly managed.

Here are a few important cautions:⚠️.
Avoid Flood-Prone Areas: Stay away from low-lying and poorly drained areas to prevent being trapped by rising water levels.

⚠️. Keep Drainages Clear: Do not dump waste into gutters, canals, or waterways. Blocked drainages worsen flooding and put lives at risk.

⚠️. Protect Your Environment: Dispose of waste responsibly. Let's not allow plastic bottles, nylon, and refuse to float into our streets and homes.

⚠️. Safety First: Motorists and pedestrians should be extra careful. Wet roads are slippery, and visibility is often poor during rainstorms.

This is not just about today. It’s about the future we’re building. Let’s all take responsibility , your actions matter.

Together, we can create a safer, cleaner, and flood-free SOMOLU environment.

A healthy environment is not a gift from nature, but the result of our collective responsibility to protect and preserve it.

We continue to demonstrate our commitment in building a cleaner and healthier community. Through the efforts of our accredited PSP, by ensuring that residents enjoy a more hygienic environment form evacuation.

Despite these efforts, the challenge of indiscriminate dumping of refuse along Bajulaye bridge Canal remains a concern. Some residents and traders still turn this into black spots.

Hon. Lateef Ashimi, Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, emphasized that true success in environmental management depends on the cooperation of all residents. He stressed that environmental protection is a shared responsibility, urging everyone to embrace proper waste disposal and desist from practices that endanger public health

With determination and collective action, Somolu is setting the standard for environmental sustainability.

Ashimi Flags Off Somolu Campaign, Salutes Chairman Dullar’s Leadership

In a significant step toward the 2025 Lagos Local Government Elections, Hon. Lateef Ashimi officially received the campaign flag under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Somolu. The symbolic handover marks the formal commencement of his campaign to represent the people of Somolu Local Government.

During the flag presentation ceremony, Ashimi took time to acknowledge the remarkable leadership of Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu, popularly known as Dullar, the incumbent Chairman of Somolu. He described Dullar as a grassroots-oriented leader whose impact is deeply felt across all wards in the local government.

Ashimi stated that the level of infrastructural development, youth empowerment, and environmental progress witnessed under Dullar’s administration sets a strong foundation for continuity and growth.

“We are building on a legacy of progress,” Ashimi said. “Chairman Dullar has shown what responsive leadership looks like, and we’re proud to continue from where he stops.”

With the official flag now in hand, Hon. Ashimi and his team are set to engage with the electorate across communities in Somolu, sharing their vision, listening to concerns, and mobilizing support ahead of the July 12 polls.
